Should I seriously consider meeting this guy on MySpace?

I have been speaking to this gy on MySpace for about a month now. In March I had left a reply to a blog by his band that was sort of a contest but I had forgot about it. In May I recieved a message saying I had won. I was kind of shocked because actually I wasn't serious about it. He wants to get together for a date but I told him no can do right now. I'm only 17 but he said that its no matter and will wait until I'm 18 to meet if that's better. For the meantime we have been just casually talking through MySpace. He seems like a really cool guy and plays in a couple of bands. I've seen the bands and can back it up w/ footage that its him. But its just so many crazy stories out now about the stigma of meeting someone online that it makes me wonder. I think he's ok but whenver I ask friends they tell me no. I know its for my best interest. My mom knows that I am talking to him and is ok w/ it so far as long as he doesn't say anything out of the way. He lives in LA and I am in Texas.

You better stay away from LA for the sake of meeting some internet guy. Even if he is cool, its still LA and they dont see anything outside of LA so you probably wont even have a good time with him anyway and he could do any number of things to you, like leave you at a party where there are wierdos, or leave you stranded at the airport or any number of a ton of things, hes from LA, there a good chance he wont be cool to you.

In reality his stupid band is one of about 9000 the same. If he has to fly in someone to be a 'fan' then they arent that good.

You're going to fly through 3 states and spend hundreds of dollars for a guy you've never met? Are there really no worthwhile guys in Texas? Who are you kidding? I would never do it. Make friends with him by all means, and keep talking to him as long as you want to, but if he starts asking you to meet him and all, then get away.

well you have got to watch out about what happens on the internet for sure but if you ever do by chance to ever meet him make sure you are with someone else in case he isnt what you think he isbecause you should be very careful on meeting some one on the internet so be very careful for sure
